Born to German parents and a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I am is a visual journalist whose curiosity about the world led me to photography in ninth grade. I hold a strong belief in the power of photojournalism to highlight important issues, inform the public and reflect the beauty, tragedy and candid nature of humankind.
In December 2016 I graduated with a bachelors of science in photojournalism and a minor in German from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Currently I am a photo intern at the Knoxville News Sentinel in Knoxville, Tennessee. I was a staff photographer with the Ohio University Athletics Department for three years and have successfully completed summer internships at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, The Naples Daily News and The Hutchinson News. My work has been published in The New York Times, The Associated Press, Getty Images, USA Today, Bloomberg News and countless newspapers, websites and news outlets worldwide.
I won gold in sports portfolio twice (2015 & 2016) and silver in sports action (2015) in the annual College Photographer of the Year competition. I was also a finalist in the 2016 Kodak Professional Photography Scholarship.
In my free time I am most likely listening to old-school 80's music, chatting in online photography forums or raving about Fujifilm X cameras.
I am available for hire.
