Perseverance: High school senior Okongo Majok, 19, is photographed surrounded by his family at his home in Tucson, Ariz., Friday, April 10, 2009. Majok, his grandmother, two sisters and a brother fled the carnage in their native Sudan when he was a child. He is unaware what happened to his parents. They lived in a Kenyan refugee camps for five years before coming to Tucson over two years ago. Majok has overcome numerous obstacles and is graduating this spring with a 3.83 GPA and is ranked 12 out of a graduating class of 235.
