Stacey Wescott is a staff photographer at the Chicago Tribune. She has worked at the Tribune, her first newspaper job, for five years. Before working at the Tribune, she freelanced in Chicago and Seattle.

Before working as a photojournalist she lived in Seattle, Washington, where she helped start Home Alive, a non-profit self-defense collective. She also lived in Latin America where she spent 3 years on a fellowship from the University of Minnesota exploring the role of women in the arts.  Her work there culminated in "Las (In)visibles", a nationally touring art exhibit of work by Latin American women artists. She is married to Brian Peterson and they have a 2-year-old daughter, Sophia.
