Gail McCabe is a long time contributor to the Army’s broadcast network and since 1997, is SRTV Bureau Chief in Atlanta, Georgia, where she contributes to “Army Newswatch”, SRTV’s premier television news program, recently recognized as DoD’s Flagship News Program.
During her extensive career, Ms. McCabe has earned the trust and confidence of the Army Leadership as well as soldiers serving around the world. Her comprehensive reports have provided informative insight on the goals and objectives of the Army in Europe, Africa, Central and South America, Southwest and Central Asia and throughout the continental United States. Her award-winning productions have brought clearer understanding into many high profile Army missions to include Operation Desert Shield/Storm, TF 51 in Goma, Zaire, Operation Joint Endeavor/Guard in Bosnia, Operation Desert Fox & Thunder, Hurricane Bonnie and Mitch, as well as extensive coverage of Partnership for Peace initiatives throughout Eastern Europe, Task Force Falcon and Hawk in Albania and Kosovo and JTF Full Accounting in Vietnam.
Most recently, Gail has reported on the troops deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Ms. McCabe is the Army’s first civilian broadcast journalist to have been selected to participate in Training With Industry with CNN, at their Atlanta-based World Headquarters. She holds several Army level Broadcast awards and Three DoD Thomas Jefferson Broadcast Awards as well as being frequently honored with Industry-level recognition. She is the 1998 Army Civilian Broadcast Journalist of the Year. Ms. McCabe currently lives in Atlanta where she is Bureau Chief at SRTV, Atlanta.
