Julie Denesha has been based in Prague, Czech Republic, for the past eight years where she covered Central and Eastern Europe for a number of stateside newspapers and news organizations. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Christian Science Monitor, Time, Newsweek, and The Economist.

After graduating from The University of Kansas in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Language and Literature 1993, Denesha spent two years as a community photographer for The Kansas City Star.
