Richard Koci-Hernandez, San Jose Mercury News
Koci-Hernandez made the switch from newspaper still shooter to full time web-based videographer. He will lead a workshop on embracing the change, what to expect, and the new tools for the job.
Shooting around the World
Christopher Morris, VII Photo Agency. Morris has gone around the world and back covering major stories for the world's biggest news magazines. He is now on assignment in Washington, D.C.
Location Lighting
Joe McNally, from National Geographic, will lead a workshop on location lighting. Also, McNally will give a presentation of his style and how it has been influenced by living in New York City.
NPPA BOP
Josh Meltzer, of the Roanoke Times, is the Best of Photojournalism 2006 Photojournalist of the Year (Small Markets). He will talk about making local stories from global issues, shooting in your own backyard, and the staff success at the Roanoke Times.

Scott Strazzante, of the Chicago Tribune, will talk about how he keeps his photography fun and resh, including his recent coverage of the Winter Olympics and his photo blog.
Following up on Katrina
Ted Jackson, New Orleans Times-Picayune. As floodwaters from Hurricane Katrina inundated his hometown, Jackson and fellow staffers continued working through the worst natural disaster in U.S. history. Jackson had to decide quickly when to shoot and whom to rescue; where to sleep and where to find food; whom to trust and how to commandeer. Jackson has covered hurricanes and natural disasters for more than 20 yeares, but he quickly learned how journalism is altered when tragedy hits home.
ASMP
Clem Spalding, President of ASMP, will talk about issues facing photographers and the publication industry, including developments from the Coalition on Orphan Works.

Freelance/Best Practices
Greg Smith, mediaSmith. Smith, independent photographer and writer, chairman of NPPA's Business Practices Committee, and recently re-elected board member of ASMP/South Carolina, will present a seminar and lead a discussion about costs, value of and best practices for independent photojouralism. This session is for all: students, beginning freelancers, grizzled veterands, staff shooters and the editors and managers who need them all.
Photo Columns for the Web
Melina Mara, of The Washington Post, will lead a workshop on her weekly political photo column, from photographing and gathering audio, to editing and producing the web product. She will also talk about her strategy to keep the column fresh and new week after week.
