Scott Jensen

is the Ernie Crisp Television News Photographer of the Year. Scott works at KARE in Minneapolis with two other TV POYs from years past. He credits his success in part to working well with reporters and will talk about finding the balance between the visual structure and natural moments of a story.

Scott grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, and interned at KATU-TV in Portland, Oregon during the spring of 1996. He graduated from George Fox University, in Newberg, Oregon, in 1996 with a degree in communications/video production.

From 1996-1999, Scott worked as a photographer at KTUU-TV in Anchorage, Alaska. In June of 1999, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to work for KARE-TV where he currently works.

Scott has won various awards including four Murrows and two Emmys. In 1998 and 1999, he was Region 11 Photographer of the Year Runner Up. He contributed to KARE winning Station of the Year in 2000. Scott was Region 5 Photographer of the Year for both 2001 and 2002, as well as a National POY Finalist-2001. Scott is the current NPPA Best of Photojournalism Television Photographer of the Year for 2002.

Scott and his wife, Myrna, had their first child, Jilene, in September, 2002. He enjoys sports, history and home improvement. Scott "has his life's priorities in order. He attends church regularly, and knows all blessings come first from God. And family."
