Convergence Speakers

Brad Loper, 37, joined The Dallas Morning News staff as a Photographer in 2001 after a five-year stint as a Photographer/Special Projects Page Designer at the Arlington Morning News. In 2006 Loper moved to the photo desk to work as the 1A Picture Editor. In April, Loper was named the Best of Photojournalism 2008 Picture Editor of the Year.

Born and raised in Amarillo, Texas, Loper moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in 1990 to attend The University of Texas at Arlington where he received a BA in Journalism with a minor in Criminal Justice in 1993. Following graduation, Loper interned at the Topeka Capital-Journal (Kansas) and the Palm Beach Post (Florida) before moving back to the D/FW area.

The highlight of Loper’s career came when he, along with other members of the DMN photography staff, were awarded The Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography in April 2006 for their coverage of Hurricane Katrina.
