The 2010 NewsVideo Workshop will be held March 14-19, at OCCE in Norman, Oklahoma.
Visual Journalists: If you shoot for a TV station, newspaper or other web entity, Production Company, freelance, church, the military… if you shoot video, this is the place for you.
Whether you are a veteran handling video, new to the art or primarily take stills and want to put some new skills on your resumé, it’s time to check out The NewsVideo Workshop. The Workshop offers you a chance to learn video’s cutting edge from the best in the business… a chance YOU can’t afford to miss.
The NewsVideo Workshop is a week long, intense immersion into the world of moving pictures and sound. You will spend 12 – 16 hours each day learning from a faculty of more than 20 nationally- and internationally-recognized, award-winning journalists: including Bob Brandon, Bob Dotson, and Darrell Barton. These three alone have 11 Emmy Nominations, 5 Emmy Wins, 4 Photographer of the Year Awards and 1 Sprague Award among them.
No matter your experience level you will be attending all formal sessions, receive one-on-one critiques and get the chance to network with faculty and peers. If you come as a shoot and edit you’ll shoot on site and get immediate feedback, complete with the deadline pressure often faced in real life. If you’re new to video you will build a solid foundation of technical and storytelling skills. More experienced photojournalists prepare to fine-tune your writing, shooting, editing and production skills. Bring an open mind, a willingness to learn new skills, and energy to make it through the week.
The NewsVideo Workshop's mission is to teach upcoming and working photojournalists, editors, reporters and producers tricks and techniques to keep storytelling fresh, compelling and alive. You'll leave with the tools you need to be the best in this fast, stressful and difficult environment. And you'll realize that indeed this is the best job in the world.
It's a week of intense learning, powerful critiques, and unparalleled networking. The NPPA NewsVideo Workshop changes lives... Change yours now

From the basics of Ingest, through the entire editing process, join us in gaining insight into the functionality and benefits of non-linear editing for news, newspaper, internet… anywhere you use video, you need this instruction.
Our two-day workshop uses a "hands on" approach to teaching you the latest in Avid's non-linear editing. There will be 40 non-linear editing systems courtesy of Avid Technology, made available for instruction right in the classroom. Along with all the non-linear mechanical editing basics, an Avid certified instructor will touch on special effects for video and audio, working in multiple video formats and exporting finished sequences directly to the web.
Non-linear editing…it’s a mind set…and once you learn to operate one editing system you’ve built a good foundation to operate them all.Register now while space is available.
