All gear and media for edit training will be provided. Check in will be at 8am with the workshop beginning at 9am. Slots will fill on a first come/first served basis. Attendees must also register for The NPPA NewsVideo Workshop.

Students are not qualified for Hands On Non-Linear unless seats are available after March 1st.

Price: $250

Attendance Categories

Shoot & Edit
$850 / $750 (NPPA Member Price)
The Shoot & Edit roster is now full. You can still sign up for the Shoot & Edit waiting list, but spots will only become available in case of cancellations. We encourage everyone who is interested in Shoot & Edit but didn't make the cutoff to come to the Workshop as a Participant. Participants receive all the same training, and go out on all assignments, but without the pressure to perform.
Enrollment is limited to 60 photojournalists. (A minimum of one year's video shooting experience or extensive experience in still photojournalism is highly recommended). NPPA reserves the right to select applicants if more than 60 paid applications are received. If accepted, you will shoot and edit three ENG exercises, then attend critique sessions with members of the faculty for evaluation and constructive criticism. You must bring your own Betacam (NTSC) or DVCam, lights and tripod. The Workshop utilizes Sony DVCam format for editing and screening. Attendees shooting other formats must be equipped to play back their field recordings. It is strongly recommended that attendees bring their own portable editing systems.
(Limited scholarship assistance for a Shoot & Edit position may be available. Write Dave Hamer, National Press Photographers Foundation, 3702 North 53rd Street, Omaha, NE 68104, or e-mail to daveandverla@cs.com for details.)
Participant
$750 / $650 (NPPA Member Price)
May be photojournalist, reporter, editor, producer, or even work outside of a TV station. News managers and novice photojournalists will also benefit. Attend all sessions, go out on assignments, but will not shoot or edit. All participants are encouraged to bring two short stories (5-minute limit) on VHS tape for individual critique by a faculty member.
Student
$400
The Workshop encourages student participation. To qualify, you must provide a letter from your professor or advisor verifying your status as a full-time student. Students will have full access to all sessions plus a few special 'For Students Only' sessions.
(Students are encouraged to bring VHS tape for critiques of their work)

Deadline

Cancellation Charge: After the registration deadline of March 1, 2008, refunds, less a $50 administrative fee, will be granted to applicants who withdraw. No refunds will be made for cancellations after The Workshop begins.
