Tim Underhill
Tim Underhill is the Electronic Media Coordinator for University Relations at Ball State University. A 1984 BSU TCOM graduate, he returned to Ball State in 1990 after several years in television news. Tim has worked for network affiliates in Rockford, Illinois; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Indianapolis, Indiana. He continues to keep up to date by freelancing for various networks. Tim=s work has appeared several national and regional networks including, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, ESPN and FOX. He has covered the Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400, NBA playoffs, Pan Am Games, NCAA championships, NFL Monday Night Football plus other college and professional sporting events.
In 1997 Tim was named to the faculty of Television News Video Workshop sponsored by the National Press Photographers Association. He produces the faculty video and handles the lighting and sound in the Forum room. Tim was a Workshop participant in 1987 and in 1991. Tim has served as a judge for several video contests including the Emmy Awards, NPPA, SPJ and other competitions. Tim's work has earned awards from many of those same organizations including NPPA, AP, and the Emmy Awards.
In 2001 Tim was recognized by the BSU Alumni Association for outstanding contributions to the university with the Benny Award. In his current position, Tim is responsible for promoting Ball State University through radio, television and the internet. Tim is a part-time instructor teaching courses in ENG, video production and news writing. He also serves on the Ball State University TCOM Alumni Advisory Board. When he isn't working he can be found enjoying family life with his wife and 2 sons or pedaling his bicycle across Indiana.
