For several days there has been confusion over the fate of French photographer Lucas Mebrouk Dolega, who was hit point-blank with a teargas canister fired by riot police as he covered civil unrest in Tunisia. Tuition Grants Available For NPPA Events
Applications are now being accepted for tuition grants for the 2011 line-up of NPPA educational events, NPPA's executive director Mindy Hutchison has announced. The tuition grants are open to all photographers – NPPA members or not – who earn their livings primarily by making photographs intended for publication and whose work is commercially distributed outside the United States.. more

Board Elects Sean D. Elliot As NPPA President, Passes Budget
NPPA's board of directors ended their three-day meeting by electing new national officers. Sean D. Elliot was named president for a one-year term that begins immediately. The chief photographer for The Day in New London, CT, Elliot has been NPPA's vice president during Bob Carey's term in office and he's served on the board of directors since 1999. Michael Borland, of WHO-TV in Des Moines, was elected vice president and the board passed a proposed $1.245 million budget.. more |
