Tuition Grants Available For NPPA Events
Applications are now being accepted for tuition grants for the 2011 line-up of NPPA educational events, NPPA's executive director Mindy Hutchison has announced. Call for applications for the 2011 Gordon Yoder - NPPA NewsVideo Workshop Award
The National Press Photographers Foundation (NPPF) is accepting applications for the annual Gordon Yoder Award for television photojournalists wishing to attend the NPPA NewsVideo Workshop.  The $1000 award, established by G. Gordon Yoder, is designed to help cover tuition and expenses for the workshop. To be eligible, applicants must have at least one year of working experience in video journalism. NPPA Humanitarian Award Presented To John David Mercer
John David Mercer, a photojournalist for the Press-Register in Mobile, Alabama, has been honored with the National Press Photographers Association's Humanitarian Award. Mercer was recognized by NPPA for his heroic actions in the early morning hours of December 21 when he spotted a fire erupting atop the Best Western Battleship Inn on the Causeway along Interstate 10.
