Ron Howard, Daughter, Will Make Film From Photo Contest Winners

NEW YORK, NY (June 9, 2011) – Oscar-winning director Ron Howard will pick 8 photographs from a Canon-sponsored user-generated photography contest and his daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard, will then direct a short film based on the images.

"Project Imagin8ion" encourages photographers of all levels to submit photographs based on a series of movie themes: Setting, Time, Character, Mood, Relationship, Goal, Obstacle, and Unknown.

Based on the 8 winning images, the Howards will shoot a short film using Canon EOS DSLR cameras and lenses. They say script development will begin after the 8 winning pictures are selected, and production will take place during the summer and fall. The film will premier later this year in New York City.

There are five days left to enter the contest before the June 14 deadline. Photographers can visit www.youtube.com/imagination to see a gallery of entered photographs and to read the contest details and rules before submitting images.

Bryce Dallas Howard is an actress and film director and her father, Ron Howard, who came to prominence as a child actor on The Andy Griffith Show and the TV sitcom Happy Days, won an oscar for the movie Cocoon and has produced or directed the blockbuster hits Apollo 13, Frost/Nixon, and A Beautiful Mind.
