Jim Bye Elected To NPPA Executive Committee

DURHAM, NC (June 22, 2011) – Jim Bye of Western Kentucky University has been elected as the Executive Committee Regional Chairs Board Representative, replacing TJ Mullinax on NPPA's Executive Committee as a national officer and a member of the board of directors.

Bye was elected to the Executive Committee post by NPPA's Regional Chairs.

NPPA's governance structure has six members of the Executive Committee: the President, Sean D. Elliot; Vice President Michael Borland; Immediate Past President Bob Carey; National Secretary Denise McGill; Treasurer Sarah Evans; and the Regional Chairs Board Representative, Jim Bye.

Bye joined Western Kentucky University in 2007 as the Photojournalism Lab Manager. His photojournalism career started at the Courier-Journal in Louisville where he freelanced while he was still a student at Indiana University. After graduation he worked as a staff photographer for the News-Enterprise in Elizabethtown, KY, before joining The Virginian-Pilot as a photographer and picture editor for 10 years. Later he became the assistant managing editor of graphics for the Evansville Courier, and was the technology advisor for the Scripps Howard newspaper chain. In 2003 he was the creative technical services manager for the Akron Beacon Journal in Ohio, before joining the WKU staff.
