Nominate A Colleague For NPPA Honors
DURHAM, NC (May 17, 2011) – For more than 60 years the National Press Photographers Association has honored those who have supported the organization, assisted photojournalism and photojournalists, or have contributed to our profession.
"This is your chance to honor a colleague for their work or contribution to the profession," NPPA past president Bob Carey said today.
"I hope that everyone will take the time to nominate as least one deserving colleague. We have 17 different awards covering every aspect of our profession. There are awards for editors, educators, business leaders and non-photographers. If you know a deserving person, please do not leave them out."
As the organization's past president, Carey is chairperson for NPPA's Honors & Recognition Committee.
The winners of NPPA's honors and awards are selected from people and groups nominated by the organization's members.
To nominate a candidate, please visit the Honors & Recognitions Web page here.
"I want to encourage members to click on each of the awards, read the description and look at the list of past winners," Carey said. "Then from the main page, click on 'Nominate An Award Candidate' and select an award, provide the name, eMail address, and phone number for the person, as well as a brief description of why this person should be considered. We especially encourage nominations for those who have not be honored in the past."
Nominations must be received by June 20, 2011 Winners will be honored this summer during a special online ceremony to be announced later this spring.
Carey can answer any questions about a nomination or the process and welcomes your eMail at pastpresident@nppa.org.
