Call For Entries: 21st Annual Gordon Parks Photography Competition
FORT SCOTT, KS (June 11, 2009) – The Gordon Parks Center for Culture and Diversity at Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, KS, has announced a Call For Entries in the 21st Annual Gordon Parks International Photo Competition. The contest honors one of the world’s most famous photographers, filmmakers, novelists, poets, and composers, Gordon Parks, who was born and raised in Fort Scott.
The deadline for entering the contest is June 12, 2009. Winners will be announced at the end of the Gordon Parks Celebration in October in Fort Scott. Finalists will be exhibited at Fort Scott Community College in September and October.
Last year's winners were Ben Rusnak, Moan Reeder, and Billy Weeks.
The competition awards $800 for first place, $400 for second place, and $200 for third place. Honorable mentions will receive $100 each. Each photographer may enter up to four photographs. Each photograph will be judged as an individual entry. No photo essays will be accepted, and digitally altered photographs will be disqualified. There is an entry fee of $15 for each photograph.
