Winners Named For Women In Photojournalism's Juried Exhibit

 

DURHAM, NC (May 26, 2009) – Judges have picked the winning photographs that will be in the upcoming 20th annual Women In Photojournalism Conference exhibit in June in Las Vegas during the National Press Photographers Association's Convergence '09 event.

Tahra Makinson-Sanders said there were more than 300 entries in this year's contest and 48 photographs were selected to be in the show.

Best Of Show will be announced on June 10 in Las Vegas during the conference. The winning images will be auctioned at the end of the evening to support the Women In Photojournalism Conference's scholarship fund.

The contest judges were Tiffany Brown and Leila Nevidi of the Las Vegas Review Journal; Lisa Krantz of the San Antonio Express-News; Beth Nakamura of The Oregonian; Karen Ducey, formerly of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer; Lacey Atkins of the San Francisco Chronicle; Nikki Kahn of the Washington Post; Pauline Lubens of the San Jose Mercury News; and Makinson-Sanders of Bella Pictures.
