DAYS JAPAN 5th Annual Photography Contest Opens For Entries

TOKYO, JAPAN (November 10, 2008) – DAYS JAPAN magazine is inviting photographers and journalists from around the world to take part in their 5th annual DAYS JAPAN International Photojournalism Awards.
DAYS JAPAN editor-in-chief Ryuichi Hirokawa says the contest will accept photographs taken between January 2007 and December 2008, and entries must be received in Tokyo by January 15, 2009.
There are no eMail entries accepted, but the required entry form and contest details are online here.
The contest is for photographs that are "compelling, and relate to issues that people face around the world." DAYS JAPAN says the contest is open to all photographers, regardless of age, occupation, gender, or nationality. The editorial department of DAYS JAPAN will conduct the preliminary judging, and finalists will be picked and announced in March 2009. Winning photographs will be published in DAYS JAPAN as well as on their Web site and in a touring exhibit.
The first place prize is 1 million Yen (approximately $9,800 USD) and a set of digital cameras and lenses.
