History In The Buffer

WASHINGTON, DC, (November 7, 2008) – At one time or another during the past two years photojournalist David Burnett of Contact Press Images covered pretty much everyone who ran for president. Today he writes in his blog "We're Just Sayin" about what it was like being the "buffer" media zone immediately around the podium covering Tuesday night's historic Barack Obama victory speech in Chicago's Grant Park, and the "transcendent moment" when the crowd learned Obama had won.

Burnett's blog is online here.

In a special interactive feature called "Depth Of Field," Associated Press photographers Alex Brandon and Stephan Savoia share their thoughts and pictures from the campaign trail and its final days. The audio slideshow is online here.

Also, Obama's campaign photographer David Katz has posted some behind-the-scenes photographs of Obama and his family and friends watching the election results come in on Tuesday night. Katz's photographs are online here.
