WKU's Mountain Workshop Starts September 30

 

BOWLING GREEN, KY (September 14, 2008) – The 2008 photojournalism, multimedia and picture editing Mountain Workshop produced by Western Kentucky University will be held September 30 through October 5, 2008 in Mayfield, KY.

"It is a quaint town of about 10,000 and is located in western Kentucky," WKU's photojournalist-in-residence Brian Masck said. "Although the multimedia segment is full, there are still positions available in both the photojournalism and picture editing segments."

Among the coaches for the 2008 Mountain Workshop ard Rick Loomis, a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer for the Los Angeles Times; Jonathan Newton from the Washington Post; Stephen Katz, the 2008 POYi Newspaper Photographer of the Year, a photographer for The Virginian-Pilot; Denny Simmons, the 2008 NPPA Photojournalist of the Year (Small Markets) from the Evansville Courier & Press; Mona Reeder, 2008 winner of the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for Photography, from The Dallas Morning News; and Scott Anger, the deputy editor for video at the Los Angeles Times.

Other coaches include Will Yurman, an award-winning photographer and multimedia producer from the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, and ZUMA Press and DOUBLEtruck magazine founder Scott Mc Kiernan.
