Fast Company Interview With "America's Photographer"
NEW YORK, NY (September 11, 2008) – Rick Smolan, a former National Geographic and Time magazine photographer who today makes photography books like "Day in the Life of America" and his latest effort, "America at Home," did a lengthy video interview with Robert Scoble of Fast Company and it's now online.
Called "America's Photographer," Smolan discusses photography, digital versus film, how the "Day In The LIfe..." idea came about in a bar conversation in Australia, and his latest projects – including his friend's new book project "What Matters: The World's Preeminent Photojournalists and Thinkers Depict Essential Issues of Our Time" by David Elliot Cohen, and "Blue Planet Run" – in a video that's online here.
Smolan and his wife, Jennifer Erwitt, are co-founders of Against All Odds Productions in Sausalito, CA. With business partner and friend Cohen the team created the highly-successful "Day In The Life..." series of books. Smolan's also responsible for "Passage To Vietnam"; "24 Hours in Cyberspace"; "One Digital Day: How the Microchip is Changing Our World"; and "The Planet Project: Your Voice, Your World."
