DURHAM, NC (May 12, 2008) – NPPA's 2008 Women In Photojournalism Conference committee has issued a Call For Entries for this year's juried photographic exhibit, with the theme for this year's contest being "Freedom of Expression."
The 19th annual NPPA Women In Photojournalism Conference will be held August 8-10 in New Orleans, LA, at the Astor Crowne Plaza hotel.
Judges for this exhibit include Mark Edelson, presentation editor for The Palm Beach Post; Janet Reeves, photography director for The Rocky Mountain News; Paula Nelson, the assistant managing editor for photography for The Boston Globe; Carol Nakagawa, art director for The Pacific Northwest magazine at The Seattle Times; and Phaedra Singelis, editorial manager for multimedia for MSNBC.com.
Contest organizers say there are no categories for the competition, only the photographers' interpretation of the theme "Freedom of Expression." Each photograph is a single entry; there are no pictures stories allowed in the competition. Judges remind photographers that this is a contest for women photojournalists only, and the photographs must have been shot between July 1, 2007, and May 1, 2008.
Up to 50 winning images and one Best Of Show will be presented in a gallery reception during the WIPC in New Orleans. Compete details on how to enter images can be found online at the WIPC Web site at www.womeninphotojournalism.org.
