New Look For Washington Times Newspaper, Web Site

WASHINGTON, DC (June 3, 2008) – The Washington Times has launched a re-design of the newspaper that color codes the news with tabs atop each story that contain one of 400,000 "news themes" that correspond to stories on their Web site and "landing pages" online.
The move, to drive more readers to their digital products – including radio and video shows – includes doing away with the Saturday edition and weekend home delivery of the newspaper.
The printed front page also has what the Times calls a "headline marquee" that points readers to "valued added" opportunities on the Web site.
Times editors told readers the redesign "frees up" an entire section of the newspaper so that the "B" section can become a new feature called "Plugged In," which will have a different topic each weekday including business, politics, living, national security, and entertainment.
The newspaper says the changes doubles the number of color pages readers will see, and home subscribers will receive a free subscription to the Times' online electronic edition to replace the Saturday paper that's discontinued.
