Palm Beach Post Wins NPPA's 2007 BUP Quarterly Clip Contest

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (March 7, 2008) – The Palm Beach Post has won this year's Best Use of Photography Quarterly Clip contest, chairperson Mark Edelson announced. The Los Angeles Times, winner of the contest the past two years, placed second, and The Dallas Morning News finished third.

The final results were determined by the BUP 4th Quarter results, which were just released.

Over the course of the year, five categories of usage were judged quarterly, with points assigned for each winning page. Entries were judged by a wide range of professionals at universities, magazines, picture agencies and newspapers.

"BUP is a contest, and because of that winners are chosen," said Edelson. "But far more important is the continually growing online archive of good and sometimes extraordinary examples of how to effectively use photographs to tell stories in print. The easily accessible archive of winning pages, which display a wide variety of approaches, hopefully helps students and professional alike improve their work.

"Thanks to all of the individuals and papers who entered last year.”
