NPPA Life Member Photographs 11 American Presidents

 

MIAMI, FL (February 19, 2008) - NPPA Life member Ray Fisher, 83, who joined NPPA 54 years ago in 1954, was recently featured in a column in The Miami Herald to mark the occasion of the photographer covering his 11th American president.

Herald columnist Joan Fleischman wrote about Fisher photographing former U.S. President Bill Clinton for Time & Life pictures recently at a book signing in Coral Gables. Fisher picked out one of his Clinton images and mailed two prints to the former president's office in New York City along with a note. Fisher got one of the prints back from Clinton with the inscription, "To Ray Fisher - I'm glad to be your 11th president - Bill Clinton."

During his career Fisher has photographed presidents Herbert Hoover, Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald R. Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush. He photographed Reagan before he was president, with the actor's future bride Jane Wyman in 1939, and Hoover after he left office as the former president was fishing off Miami Beach in the late 1950s.
