WJW-TV's Matthew Rafferty Wins Cutting Edge Editor Title
DENVER, CO (February 20, 2008) - Matthew Rafferty of WJW-TV in Cleveland, OH, has been named the 2007 NPPA Cutting Edge Editor of the Year, contest chair Jeramy Rosenberg announced after tallying the quarterly results.
Rafferty narrowly edged out Joshua E. Maranhas and Ryan S. Borgman, both of KDVR-TV in Denver, with 77 points and six first-place awards.
"This is the second time Matt has won the competition, having also received the honor in 2004," Rosenberg said. "Matt has also been the runner-up for Television Editor of the Year in NPPA's Best Of Photojournalism contest for the last two years. Congratulations to Matt and all the winners in the 2007 Cutting Edge competition."
This was Rosenberg's last year to chair the Cutting Edge quarterly contest. "Thank you all for the hard work you've put into this contest during my tenure, be it judging, entering, or offering suggestions to improve the contest," Rosenberg said when he announced the winners. "I also humbly thank you for the kind words many of you have offered in the last three years. Thank you most of all for the opportunity to serve in this position." Rosenberg is a news video editor for KMGH-TV in Denver.
The Cutting Edge contest's new chairperson is Brad Ingram of WGHP-TV in Greensboro, NC.
