LOS ANGELES, CA (October 30, 2007) - In a reality television show premiering Sunday on VH1, ten aspiring photographers have 30 days to compete to be America's next top fashion photographer, a la American Idol, in "The Shot."
The eight-episode series features a cast that lives and works together in a downtown Los Angeles loft while being taught by fashion photographer Russell James. James will guide the photographer contestants through a series of fashion shoots "meant to challenge their creativity and expose their individual weaknesses." The public relations efforts for the show say that "for the first time in their lives, the photographers will worked with supermodels and high-end professionals while traveling to exotic locations, all to capture that one perfect shot."
Each week a panel led by James will review the photographers' shoots, and eliminate the "weakest" shooter. Panelists include Marie Claire senior fashion editor Zanna Roberts and from Victoria's Secret hairstylist Italo Gregorio.
The winner will receive $100,000 from show sponsor Vaseline, an editorial spread in Marie Claire, and a photo spread in a Victoria's Secret catalogue.
"The Shot" premiers on Sunday November 4, 2007, at 10 p.m. EST on VH1.
The show is executive produced by Ken Mok, Christian McLaughlin, Jim Ackerman, and Michael Hirschorn, and sponsored by Hewlett-Packard, John Frieda, Vaseline, and Victoria's Secret.
