NPPA Launches Online Survey To Identify Members' Priorities, Objectives

DURHAM, NC (September 13, 2007) - NPPA president Tony Overman today announced an online survey that's part of NPPA's new strategic planning efforts, and asked members to take a few minutes to answer the survey's questions. The online survey will be available through October 3, 2007.

When NPPA's new executive director Jim Straight was hired by NPPA's board of directors in May, one of the first things he said he wanted to accomplish was the launch of a strategic plan for the group and a membership survey.

Today Overman wrote in an eMail to members: "In an effort to better serve you as a member of the National Press Photographers Association, as well as to advance the profession of visual journalism, the NPPA is currently undergoing a strategic planning process. This strategic plan will be put in place to identify the NPPA's priorities and strategic directions for the next three years.

"One of the most critical pieces of strategic planning for an organization like ours is member feedback. In order to best plan our future we need to know who you are, what you need as a professional, your opinions about the association and your insight on the state of visual journalism.

"The NPPA would like to invite you to participate in an online survey aimed at helping us answer all of those questions. As a valued member of the NPPA, we hope that you will accept this invitation. Your input is very important to our planning process. The survey should take about 12 minutes to complete.

"Upon completing the survey, your eMail (if you wish to give it) will be entered into a drawing for a free registration to our annual meeting in 2008 being held in Louisville, KY, or one of three free equipment prizes. Thank you for agreeing to participate. We realize that you have a busy schedule, and we very much appreciate your input. Sincerely, Tony Overman, NPPA president."

The survey is online here.
