Kendall Named NPPA Photojournalism Summit Chair

 

Russ KendallDURHAM, NC (June 12, 2007) – Russ Kendall, director of NPPA's Region 11 who is a photography editor at the Bellingham Herald in Bellingham, WA, has been appointed chairman of the annual NPPA Photojournalism Summit. The announcement was made this week by NPPA president Tony Overman.

"Russ was highly involved in the planning and operations of this year's Photojournalism Summit in Portland," Overman said. "He will be assembling a team of volunteers to ensure continuity and success of future events, including the 2008 NPPA Photojournalism Summit in Louisville, KY. A huge thank you to Russ for taking on the responsibility."

Kendall was also recently on NPPA's executive committee as the EC Board Representative. At this year's board meeting in Portland, a new EC Board Representative was elected (Bob Carey, Region 6 director).

In other news, Overman earlier announced new chairs for the NPPA Television Quarterly Clip Contest. Scott Jensen of KTUU-TV in Anchorage, AK, a former Ernie Crisp Television News Photographer of the Year, is the contest's new chair. Merry Murray of KSNW-TV in Wichita, KA, has agreed to be the co-chair.
