Election Winners Announced In Regions 2 & 6

 

DURHAM, NC (May 1, 2007) – NPPA national secretary Sean D. Elliot has announced the results of April’s online elections for Regional officers in Regions 2 and 6.

In Region 2, Todd Maisel was elected director over candidate Robert Stridiron, and Mark Dye was elected associate director over candidate John Berry.

Maisel, a staff photographer for the New York Daily News, was Region 2’s associate director. He’s also vice president of the New York Press Photographers Association. Dye is a freelance photojournalist working in the New York City area and upstate.

In Region 6, Bob Carey was elected director over candidate George McGinn, and Jim Michalowski was elected associate director over candidate Sam Cranston.

Carey is chairman of the Department of Communication Studies at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina after working as a photojournalist in Texas and Tennessee. He’s been an NPPA member for more than 15 years. Michalowski is a photography editor for The Daytona Beach News-Journal and has worked for The Citizen in Auburn, NY.

Elliot congratulated the winners and thanked all the candidates for their willingness to volunteer their services to NPPA.
