NPPA Photojournalism Summit 2007 Hosts Four-Day Multimedia Program

DURHAM, NC (December 18, 2006) – The National Press Photographers Association will host a four-day Multimedia Immersion Program for still and television photojournalists at the 2007 NPPA Photojournalism Summit in Portland, Oregon, NPPA president Tony Overman announced today. The event begins on Wednesday May 30 and runs through Saturday June 2.

“The multimedia program will a ‘boot camp’ of audio and video recording, editing, and slideshow presentations for still and television photojournalists alike,” Overman said. “We hope to produce a Web site with the multimedia packages that are produced during the Summit, and Seth Gitner’s NPPA multimedia committee is planning the faculty and curriculum for the four-day program.

“There will be the traditional two-day Photojournalism Summit on Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2. This will feature one-hour workshops on multimedia, but also include freelance business, licensing, and general photography inspiration workshops. And the Best Of Photojournalism 2006 and Sprague Awards banquet will be held on Saturday night.

NPPA’s annual board of directors and business meeting will also be held during the Photojournalism Summit. The board will meet on Tuesday, May 29 and Wednesday, May 30.

Overman encourages NPPA members to “Make your plans to spend Memorial Day weekend in the lovely Pacific Northwest, then buckle down for a great Summit.”

More information will be available soon on the NPPA Web site and in News Photographer magazine.
