NPPA Launches New Service To Help Clients Find Freelance Photojournalists

"Find a Photographer" is a new service provided by the National Press Photographers Association to help match freelance photojournalists with individuals and companies who are looking for photographic talent. The service is available to NPPA members on the organization's Web site at www.nppa.org.

Employers, newspaper and magazine editors, advocacy groups, and others can search this new online database for freelance photojournalists. The directory will automatically filter the available pool of photographers by specialty and location, and return a targeted list of appropriate local photojournalists.

NPPA professional members who do freelance work can list themselves with the system by logging on to the NPPA site and filing out online profile information about their coverage area, photographic specialties, and business practices. The member photographer's contact information is pulled directly from the NPPA membership directory, so it always stays up-to-date. (Members who take advantage of this new feature should check their online directory listing to make sure all information is current. If not, they are asked to update it using the site's features).

This new Web service was developed by NPPA Information Technology manager Stephen Sample in cooperation with the NPPA Business Practices Committee, and with the support of the executive committee and the board of directors. Stephen can be contacted at netgeek@nppa.org
