From car wrecks to natural disasters, journalists often find themselves covering disturbing stories as part of their jobs. In response, the NPPA, in cooperation with Newscoverage Unlimited and the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, is developing an all-volunteer Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT).
Team members will be trained to recognize how such experiences impact journalists' personal and professional lives, how to recognize symptoms in those who may be suffering, how to be supportive, and how to link colleagues to resources for help.
If you are interested in becoming a team member, please fill out the application form below. If you know someone who you feel would make a great team member, please fill out the first ten lines of this form as completely as possible, and we will contact your nominee.
