This is the second year in a row for Burgess to be Region 8’s POY. Last year he and reporter Byron Harris were embedded in Iraq with U.S. Marines headed for Baghdad. Burgess is a winner of a 2003 Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in electronic journalism for a story on Colorado firefighters.
