“Most days start about three hours before my shift with my morning sweat. A four or five mile ritual that leaves me focused and ready for whatever they throw at me.” Stan says. Sometimes he works on endurance, other times on speed. “But then there are the races. When I think of running, it’s usually race day I remember. Suppose you look at photojournalism that way. Most days are uneventful, when we’re doing stories laced with file or hanging outside of a courthouse. Those are my training days — the time to work on an aspect of my craft. Every story is just practice for the next big one.”
