Judges’ comments for the category

Wounded Warrior Program – Clearly the first pick for the judges. Photographer found multiple angles, moments, perspectives for strong storytelling. Elvis Still Lives- Wonderful opening detail. Fun moments. Worked an event situation hard and provided multiple, different images. Where the Whales Are – Several very nice photographs. Nice light and mood. A tighter edit makes a tighter story. An elimination of two or three photos could strengthen the essay.

Alan Berner, Angela Gottschalk, Erika Schultz - The Seattle Times.
