Marshall Gorby/Springfield News-Sun

Judges’ comments for the category

Shooting spot news is always tough, and the circumstances often gang up to make it tougher. Friend Killed pulled together all that spot news should be--essential elements (Including bloody hands), right moment, right angle, and compelling story. POT is strong because of good general storytelling, but strongest is the helicopter shot. It frankly adds a touch of irony to a serious story. Rollover is very simple, no fancy composition, effects or moment, but it tells the story quickly, clearly.
