The most appropriate comment I could make was there was no sense of urgency. A lot of the pieces fell short. They seemed to be wallpapered with video. Many of these stories were missing good moments & once again the lack of attention to audio is appalling. Making a fade on a non-linear system is a snap, yet it seems as if the editors have forgotten that.

The three stories that Paul & I chose were the best mix of everything. They engaged us in a short period of time.

Obviously, we were looking for an entry that showcased the urgency of a breaking news story. This year’s 1st place winner did that effectively. Some stories lacked urgency and the nat sound breaks were all over the place. Simply put, we were looking for urgency with effective pacing.
