Judges' Comments

We had several "finalists" in this category. Good, solid, effective story telling was evident in the category. Our 1st place winner drew us into the story with seamless audio and video edits....: "nice and complete" was our finalist comment on this story. Other finalists (2nd, 3rd, & HM) also provided nicely paced stories with appropriate uses of natural sound.

This category was more difficult. There were many that we liked. It came down to craft & storytelling. We also discussed the importance of the last shot. Many pieces were good until the last shot, then it felt like the editor just threw something in to get it finished. The last shot is so important it wraps up everything the viewer has seen, yet many times the last shot was less than interesting.

The final choice came down to which story felt real, like we were there. Seemless storytelling throughout.
