Judges' Comments

'Haiti Turns 200' was simply the best body of photojournalism we reviewed. The site is a striking compilation of work primarily from photographers Mike Stocker, Benjamin Lowy, and Chris Usher, with additional images from Lisa Krantz, Melissa Lyttle and others. The photography was gorgeous in its use of color, texture and light.

The originality of vision was stronger and more personal than any other body of work we reviewed. The picture editing was just tight enough to prevent redundancy. Though we enjoyed the audio many other sites offered, photojournalism this powerful needs nothing other than the clean presentation Blueeyes Magazine provided.

The site is unobtrusive, allowing the photography to take the center stage it deserved. The photos loaded quickly and the navigation was simple. We applaud John Loomis for providing this remarkable forum for great photojournalism.
