With what looked at one time to be a winning Presidential bid John Kerry was thought to be the next American President. A campaign, energized by a young running mate, and some unconventional source the Democrats looked like they could take the White House from the George W. and the Republicans. But when the count from Ohio came in, W. was still the President and John Kerry was left to wonder how he lost. He was the "come back kid". Sen. John Kerry went from dead last to the front runner of the Presidential campaign after the Iowa caucus in January. He stops for a beer and to visit locals at a bar in Des Moines, IA. 10/30/2004.
