The Hmong crumble like a wave, crying, begging and waiing, as the photographer and reporter walk into the Hmong village in Xaysomboune Special Zone in Northern Laos in 16January 2003. These Hmong have been hiding in the jungles of the Xaysomboune Special Zone in northern Laos for the past 28 years. They have been persecuted by the Lao government since they sided with the Americans to fight communism in Laos during the Vietnam War in the 1960s.
