HAVING TO BURY HIS SONS An Iranian man carries his two sons, Ali Akbar and Ghasem Majidi to the cemetery in Bora on the outskirts of the southeastern Iranian city of Bam 27 December 2003, one day after an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the open-ended Richter scale hit the city. The devastating temblor killed up to 70,000 people in the city of Bam, Iranian health minister Dr Ahmad Pezeshkian said, and destroyed the city's ancient citadel.
